Void Emergence
Where Fractured System showed formation, Void Emergence reveals what lies beneath: immense emptiness. Deep gorges carve through mineral deposits, their walls rendered in white lines against the surrounding blackness. The voids are so substantial they dominate the composition — absence becomes presence.
These are canyons at their deepest, where erosion has hollowed the earth into vast chambers. Geological time measured in the slow, inexorable work of wind and water.
The voids are not negative space but active forces — the inevitable result of matter encountering time.
The eight works of Igneous trace formation from primordial density through the moment of rupture. Void Emergence reveals what lies beneath the surface — that emptiness is not absence but presence, that the void is as substantial as stone.
Void Emergence is part of Cartography of Collapse, a series of 16 original ink drawings on paper (2026) tracing geological transformation from formation through dissolution. Created in a single session without revision — the irreversible line mirroring the irreversibility of geological processes.
Each drawing is improvised, capturing moments in matter’s transformation across deep time. The series moves in two acts: Igneous (formation, density, compression) and Erosion (dissolution, dispersal, return to void).
