Running from July 2011 to June 2013, EUtropia was coordinated by jfc Medienzentrum e.V. (Germany) in partnership with the ROOTS & ROUTES International Network. The project united approximately 250 young artists from nine European countries in a bold artistic collaboration: to discover shared expressive language across cultural and linguistic divides.
Rooted conceptually in the Tower of Babel myth, EUtropia explored both the destructive and regenerative potential of human diversity. Rather than a fixed composition, the work was designed to evolve continuously—each national residency invited local artists to reimagine the performance through their own aesthetic traditions, resulting in a unified yet multifaceted artistic statement that blended rock, pop, classical, traditional, hip-hop, and ethnic aesthetics with visual and dramatic arts.
J3ZZ served as violinist, composer, producer, and performer throughout the project, contributed to the documentary soundtrack, and coached young artists during the Lille residency.
